Biography

Adrienne Ames was born in 1907 in Fort Worth, Texas. She moved to Hollywood in the late 1920s, where she pursued a career in film that spanned approximately a decade. During her career, which lasted from 1929 to 1940, she appeared in around 30 films, primarily in "B" pictures, with her most notable role in You're Telling Me! (1934) alongside W.C. Fields. Ames was also known for her high-profile marriages, including a union with actor Bruce Cabot, which ended in divorce due to allegations of his violent behavior. In 1938, she appeared before a US Tax Appeals Board regarding her claimed deductions for wardrobe and beauty expenses. After her acting career, she transitioned to work as a radio commentator. Adrienne Ames passed away in New York City in 1947 after a prolonged illness.
