Amal Clooney, born on 3 February 1978 in Lebanon, is a British international human rights lawyer based in the United Kingdom. She has represented high-profile clients, including former Maldivian president Mohamed Nasheed, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Iraqi activist Nadia Murad, journalist Maria Ressa, Azerbaijani journalist Khadija Ismayilova, and Egyptian-Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy. Clooney has held various positions with the UK government and the United Nations and serves as an adjunct law professor at Columbia Law School. In 2016, she co-founded the Clooney Foundation for Justice with her husband, American actor George Clooney. Amal Clooney is recognized for her advocacy in human rights and social justice issues.
