Amara Karan
Biography
Amara Karan is an English actress born in 1984 to Sri Lankan Tamil parents in Wimbledon, London. She made her film debut in Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited, which premiered at the 2007 Venice Film Festival, where she played the role of Rita, the train's stewardess. Karan's subsequent film role was as Peaches in the 2007 film St Trinian's. She made her stage debut in 2008 with the Royal Shakespeare Company, portraying Jessica in The Merchant of Venice and Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew, the latter marking her West End debut. Karan attended Wimbledon High School and later studied at St Catherine's College, Oxford University, where she participated in amateur theatre and produced a short film, By Myself, which won acclaim in a competition.
