Biography

Anastasia Myskina, born on July 8, 1981, in Moscow, Russia, is a retired professional tennis player. She began playing tennis at the age of six and received early coaching at the Spartak club in Moscow. Myskina turned professional in 1998 and quickly rose through the ranks, entering the WTA top 100 in 1999 and finishing 2002 in the top 20. By 2004, she achieved a career-high ranking of No. 5 in the world. Myskina is known for her solid baseline game and adept net play, securing a total of eight WTA singles titles during her career. Notably, she won the French Open in 2004, defeating fellow Russian Elena Dementieva in the final, making her the first Russian woman to win a Grand Slam singles title. Throughout her career, she faced challenges against top competitors, including the Williams sisters and Justine Henin-Hardenne.
