Biography

Andrew Dominik, born on 7 November 1967 in New Zealand, is a filmmaker known for his work in film and television. He graduated from Swinburne Film School in 1988 and began his career directing commercials and music videos. Dominik gained international recognition with his 2007 film, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which starred Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck. The film received critical acclaim, being named Best Film of 2007 by the San Francisco and St. Louis Film Critics Associations, and earned multiple nominations, including Best Film at the Empire Awards and the London Film Critics Circle. Dominik's first feature film, Chopper, released in 2000, was based on the life of Australian criminal Chopper Read and won several awards, including Best Achievement in Direction from the Australian Film Institute.
