Annie Girardot
Biography
Annie Girardot was a renowned French actress, recognized for her impactful performances in film and theater. She began her career in 1954 with her film debut in Treize à table. Girardot garnered critical acclaim, winning the Prix Suzanne Bianchetti in 1956 and the César Award for Best Actress in 1977 for her role in Docteur Françoise Gailland. She received the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival in 1965 for Trois chambres à Manhattan and won the César Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2002 for The Piano Teacher. Notable for her role as Nadia in Luchino Visconti's Rocco e i suoi fratelli, Girardot also collaborated with director Michael Haneke in the film Caché. In her later years, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Annie Girardot passed away on 28 February 2011 in Paris.
