Biography

Art Garfunkel, born on November 5, 1941, in Forest Hills, New York City, is an American singer, poet, and actor, best known as one-half of the folk duo Simon & Garfunkel. He attended Columbia College, where he earned a degree in art history in 1965. Garfunkel achieved significant success with Simon & Garfunkel, producing hit albums and singles, including "Bridge Over Troubled Water." The duo reunited periodically after their initial split in 1970. Garfunkel has also enjoyed a solo music career, earning six Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, and a People's Choice Award. In addition to music, he has acted in films such as "Catch-22" and "Carnal Knowledge" and authored a book of prose poetry titled "Still Water." He has been married to Kathryn "Kim" Cermak since 1988 and has two sons.
