Audrey Totter
Biography
Audrey Totter was an American actress known for her work in film and television. She began her acting career in high school and became a prominent radio performer by 1939. In 1945, she signed a contract with MGM, where she gained recognition for portraying strong, no-nonsense leading ladies and femme fatales in films such as The Postman Always Rings Twice and Lady in the Lake, both released in 1946. During her time at MGM, Totter starred in the radio sitcom Meet Millie, but could not appear in its television adaptation due to contractual obligations. As her film career declined, she transitioned to television, appearing in the Western series Cimarron City in 1958 and co-starring in the sitcom Our Man Higgins in 1962. Totter returned to acting in 1972 for the series Medical Center and made her final appearance in a 1987 episode of Murder, She Wrote. She passed away in 2013, shortly before her 96th birthday.
