Basement Jaxx is a British electronic dance music duo comprising Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe. They gained prominence in the late 1990s, emerging from the underground house scene in London. The duo's name originates from a club night they hosted in their hometown of Brixton. Known for their innovative sound and energetic performances, Basement Jaxx achieved significant commercial success, regularly topping transatlantic club charts. They received critical acclaim, winning the BRIT Award for Best Dance Act in both 2002 and 2004. Their music blends various genres, including house, funk, and pop, contributing to their reputation as pioneers in the electronic music landscape.
