Biography
Blanka Vlašić, born on 8 November 1983, is a Croatian high jumper and a prominent figure in athletics. She holds the Croatian national record in the high jump and is a two-time World Champion, claiming titles both indoors and outdoors. Vlašić achieved her personal best of 2.08 meters on 31 August 2009, making her the second-highest jumper in the event's history. She began her international career as a junior, winning the World Junior Championships in 2000 and 2002. After breaking her national record in 2004 and earning her first senior medal at the World Indoor Championships, she faced challenges due to a hyperthyroid condition but made a successful return in 2006. Her accolades include the IAAF World Athlete of the Year in 2010 and the European Athlete of the Year Trophy in 2007 and 2010. Vlašić is recognized for her significant contributions to the sport of athletics.
