Benjamin "Bob" Clark (August 5, 1939 – April 4, 2007) was an American actor, director, screenwriter, and producer, recognized for his significant contributions to film, particularly in the genre of comedy. He is best known for directing and co-writing the 1983 Christmas classic A Christmas Story, based on the works of Jean Shepherd. Clark's career spanned several decades, during which he worked primarily in the United States and spent a notable period in Canada from 1973 to 1983. During this time, he directed films that became landmarks in Canadian cinema, including Black Christmas (1974), Murder by Decree (1979), Tribute (1980), and the hit comedy Porky's (1982).
