Biography

Carlos Bernard Papierski, born on October 12, 1962, in Evanston, Illinois, is an American actor renowned for his portrayal of Tony Almeida in the television series 24, a role he held from 2001 to 2006 and reprised in 2009. He graduated from New Trier High School and attended Illinois State University before earning a fine arts degree from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Bernard's early career included stage performances, notably at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. He has made guest appearances in several television shows, including Walker, Texas Ranger and Babylon 5, and starred in the soap opera The Young and the Restless. Bernard is fluent in Spanish, Russian, and German. He was married to actress Sharisse Baker in 1999, with whom he has a daughter, Natalie. He is also known for his line of hot sauces named "Carlos Almeida's."
