David Dobkin
Biography
David Dobkin (born 23 June 1969) is an American film director, producer, and former screenwriter, recognized for his work on comedy films such as Clay Pigeons, Shanghai Knights, and Wedding Crashers. A native of Washington D.C., he graduated with honors from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in Film & Television in 1991. Dobkin began his career in the film industry in 1985 as an assistant to the production manager on John Schlesinger's film, The Believers. While studying at NYU, he worked in the development division at Warner Bros. His thesis film, 57th Street Serenade, received multiple national and international awards, including a C.I.N.E. Eagle and a Gold award at the Edinburgh Festival. After completing his education, he moved to Los Angeles to further his directing career. Dobkin is married to Megan Wolpert, a former film and television executive.
