Denis Stamper Lawson, born on 27 September 1947, is a Scottish actor and director known for his diverse roles in film and television. He gained prominence for his portrayal of John Jarndyce in the BBC's adaptation of Charles Dickens' Bleak House and as Gordon Urquhart in the film Local Hero. Lawson is also recognized for his role as DI Steve McAndrew in the BBC One series New Tricks and as Wedge Antilles in the original Star Wars trilogy. In addition to his acting career, he is the uncle of actor Ewan McGregor. Lawson's contributions to the entertainment industry have made him a notable figure in Scottish and British cinema.
