Biography

Die Antwoord is a South African rap-rave group formed in Cape Town in 2008 by rappers Ninja and Yolandi Visser, along with DJ Hi-Tek. The group draws inspiration from the zef counterculture movement in South Africa and incorporates visual elements from photographer Roger Ballen. Die Antwoord gained international recognition with their debut album, $O$ (2009), which was released for free online, and the accompanying music video for "Enter the Ninja." After a brief period with Interscope Records, they established their own label, Zef Recordz, in 2011. The group continued to release music, including their second album, Ten$Ion (2012), and third album, Donker Mag (2014). Known for their eclectic style and provocative imagery, Die Antwoord has become a prominent figure in the global music scene.
