Doris Roberts was an acclaimed American actress, born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in New York City. She built a successful career on Broadway before transitioning to television and film in the 1970s. Known for her versatile performances, Roberts gained recognition for her roles in sitcoms like "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" and "Angie." However, she achieved her greatest fame as Marie Barone in the hit series "Everybody Loves Raymond," which aired from 1996 to 2005. Her portrayal of the strong-willed matriarch earned her four Emmy Awards. Beyond her television work, Roberts appeared in various films and continued to be a beloved figure in the entertainment industry until her passing on April 17, 2016, at the age of 90.
