Elastica

Biography

Elastica is an English rock band formed in London in 1992, known for their influences from punk rock, post-punk, and new wave music. The lineup changed multiple times throughout their career, with Justine Frischmann and Justin Welch being the only consistent members. Their debut album, "Elastica," released in 1995, featured successful singles that charted in both the United Kingdom and the United States, including the notable hit "Connection." The band faced challenges in the late 1990s due to interpersonal disputes, lineup changes, and Frischmann's struggles with heroin addiction, which delayed the release of their second album, "The Menace," in 2000. This album received a less favorable reception compared to their debut. After difficulties in producing new material for a third album, Elastica disbanded amicably in October 2001.
