Biography

Emilio Butragueño Santos, born on 22 July 1963, is a retired Spanish footballer who played as a striker. He is best known for his time at Real Madrid, where he was a key member of the famed Quinta del Buitre alongside Manolo Sanchís, Rafael Martín Vázquez, Míchel, and Miguel Pardeza. Over 12 seasons with Real Madrid, Butragueño made 341 appearances and scored 123 goals in La Liga. He also represented the Spanish national team, participating in two FIFA World Cups, where he was the second top scorer in the 1986 tournament, and in two UEFA European Championships. Throughout his international career, he scored 26 goals for Spain, a record that stood for several years. Butragueño's contributions to football have made him a significant figure in Spanish sports history.
