She began her career as a series regular on the teen dramas "Fifteen" and "Madison," where her portrayal of Sheri Davis earned her two Gemini nominations. Okuma holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre from Simon Fraser University and received another Gemini nomination for her guest role in "Traders."
She has appeared in notable television series such as "Grey's Anatomy," "Medium," and "24," and currently stars as Traci Nash in the ABC and Global series "Rookie Blue."
