Franz Beckenbauer is a renowned German professional football player, manager, and official, born in Germany. He is often referred to as "der Kaiser" ("the Emperor") and is celebrated as one of the greatest football players in history. Beckenbauer is one of only nine players to have won the FIFA World Cup, the European Champions Cup, and the Ballon d'Or. Initially starting his career as a midfielder, he gained prominence as a central defender and is credited with pioneering the role of the modern sweeper (libero). Throughout his career, Beckenbauer's tactical intelligence and leadership on the field set new standards in football.
