Biography

Geraldine Page was an American actress known for her work in film, television, and theater. She received eight Academy Award nominations throughout her career, recognized for performances in films such as Hondo (1953), Summer and Smoke (1961), and Sweet Bird of Youth (1962). She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Carrie Watts in The Trip to Bountiful (1985). Page made her Broadway debut in 1953 and earned multiple Tony Award nominations, including for Sweet Bird of Youth and Agnes of God. She won Golden Globe Awards for her performances in Summer and Smoke and Sweet Bird of Youth, and received Emmy Awards for A Christmas Memory and The Thanksgiving Visitor. Additionally, she won a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Interiors. In 1983, Page was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame.
