Henri-Georges Clouzot was a French film director, screenwriter, and producer, renowned for his contributions to the thriller genre. He is best known for directing critically acclaimed films such as The Wages of Fear and Les Diaboliques, both regarded as classics of 1950s cinema. Clouzot also made notable documentary films, including The Mystery of Picasso, which was recognized as a national treasure in France.

Clouzot began his career in Paris, working initially in Berlin before returning to France, where he faced challenges during the Nazi occupation. His film Le Corbeau sparked controversy, leading to his temporary ban from filmmaking. After the ban was lifted in 1947, he regained his reputation with films like Quai des Orfèvres. Clouzot's later years were marked by personal loss and a decline in his filmmaking activity. He passed away in Paris in 1977, leaving behind a legacy of influential cinema.
