Biography

João Gilberto is a prominent Brazilian musician, recognized as a key figure in the development of bossa nova. He began his musical journey in 1942 when he traveled to Aracaju, Sergipe, for four years of study. Upon returning to Juazeiro, he received a guitar from his father and formed the vocal group Enamorados do Ritmo. In 1947, Gilberto relocated to Salvador, where he made the pivotal decision to abandon his studies in order to focus entirely on his music career. His innovative approach to rhythm and harmony has had a lasting impact on Brazilian music and has influenced countless artists worldwide.
