Biography

John Daniel Tooz Matuszak was an American football defensive lineman and actor, born in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Tampa, where he played for the football team. Matuszak had a notable career in the National Football League, primarily with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders, where he spent six years. He also joined the Houston Oilers in the World Football League but did not play in any games. Transitioning to acting, Matuszak gained recognition for his role as a football player in the 1979 film "North Dallas Forty." He appeared in several other films, including "Caveman," "The Ice Pirates," "One Crazy Summer," and is best known for his performance in "The Goonies." Additionally, he made guest appearances on various television shows such as "Perfect Strangers," "M*A*S*H," and "Miami Vice." Matuszak passed away on June 17, 1989, at the age of 38 due to heart failure.
