Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr. on April 16, 1947, is a retired American professional basketball player. He played 20 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers. Standing at 7 feet tall, Abdul-Jabbar was a dominant center and is known for his exceptional scoring ability, particularly his signature skyhook shot. Throughout his career, he was awarded the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) six times, selected as an NBA All-Star 19 times, and named to the All-NBA Team 15 times. He contributed to six NBA championships as a player and two as an assistant coach, and was voted NBA Finals MVP twice. In 1996, he was recognized as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. His impact on the game has led to accolades from peers, including recognition as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
