Biography

Lesley Ann Manville OBE (born 12 March 1956) is an English actress recognized for her collaborations with director Mike Leigh. She received the London Film Critics Circle Award for British Actress of the Year for her performances in Leigh's films All or Nothing (2002) and Another Year (2010), the latter also earning her the National Board of Review Award for Best Actress. Manville was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Phantom Thread (2017) and appeared in Maleficent (2014).

Her extensive stage career includes notable performances in productions such as As You Like It (1985), Les Liaisons Dangereuses (1986), and Ghosts (2013), for which she won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2014. A four-time BAFTA Award nominee, she is also recognized for her role in the sitcom Mum (2016–2019).
