Biography

George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron (22 January 1788 – 19 April 1824), commonly known as Lord Byron, was a British poet and a prominent figure in the Romantic movement. His notable works include the narrative poems "Don Juan" and "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage," as well as the lyric poem "She Walks in Beauty." Byron is recognized as one of the greatest British poets and continues to be widely read and influential. He played a significant role in the Greek War of Independence, where he is honored as a national hero in Greece. Byron's life was marked by aristocratic excesses, including significant debts and numerous love affairs, alongside rumors of a scandalous relationship with his half-sister. He died at the age of 36 from a fever in Missolonghi, Greece.
