Mai Kuraki, born on October 28, 1982, in Funabashi, Chiba, Japan, is a prominent Japanese pop and R&B singer-songwriter and producer. She made her debut in 1999 with the single "Love, Day After Tomorrow." Her first album, Delicious Way, released in 2000, achieved remarkable success, debuting at number one and selling over 2,210,000 copies in its first week. Kuraki is notable for having her first four studio albums debut at the top of the Oricon album chart, a distinction shared by few female artists in Japan. In 2009, she experienced a resurgence in her career with her eighth studio album, Touch Me!, also debuting at number one. Kuraki holds the record for having all her singles debut in the Top 10 since her debut and is recognized as the 38th best-selling Japanese music artist of all time, with seven number-one albums and two number-one singles to her credit.
