Biography

Marcus Chong is an American actor, best known for his role as Tank the Operator in the film The Matrix and as Huey P. Newton in the 1995 movie Panther directed by Mario Van Peebles. Born in Seattle, Washington, Chong made his acting debut in the 1979 miniseries Roots: The Next Generations, where he portrayed Frankie Warner. He later appeared on Broadway in Stand-Up Tragedy. In the early 1990s, Chong starred as Miguel Mendez in the television series Street Justice and played Fu Qua Johnson in the action series Vanishing Son. He also featured in Season 3 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a biracial character of African American and Chinese descent. Chong is the son of local newscaster Martin Wyatt and was adopted by actor and comedian Tommy Chong, becoming a stepbrother to actress Rae Dawn Chong. He recently completed his first novel, "The Arch."
