Biography

Mark David Duplass (born December 7, 1976) is an American film director, producer, actor, and screenwriter, recognized as a key figure in the mumblecore film movement. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Cynthia and Lawrence Duplass and grew up in a Catholic family with Cajun ancestry. Alongside his brother Jay Duplass, he has co-written, directed, and produced several notable films, including The Puffy Chair (2005), Baghead (2008), and Cyrus (2010). Their collaborative style often features extensive ad-libbing and multiple takes. Duplass also stars in the FX comedy series The League, where he is joined by his wife, Katie Aselton. Additionally, he is the lead singer of the rock band Volcano, I'm Still Excited!! Duplass has two children with Aselton.
