Markéta Irglová, born on 28 February 1988 in the Czech Republic, is a Czech-Icelandic singer-songwriter, musician, and actress. She gained international recognition for her role in the 2007 film Once, where she starred alongside Glen Hansard. The film's song "Falling Slowly," co-written by Irglová and Hansard, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, making her the youngest recipient of the award at the age of 19.
