Michael Edward Lonsdale (24 May 1931—21 September 2020), also known as Michel Lonsdale, was a British-French actor recognized for his extensive work in film and television, appearing in over 180 productions. He gained prominence in the English-speaking world for his portrayal of the villain Hugo Drax in the 1979 James Bond film Moonraker. Lonsdale also starred as detective Claude Lebel in The Day of the Jackal and as M. Dupont d'Ivry in The Remains of the Day. His career spanned several decades, showcasing his versatility across various genres.
