Biography

Morgan Spurlock is an American filmmaker and documentarian best known for his 2004 film "Super Size Me," in which he gained weight by consuming only McDonald's food for a month. Born in an unspecified year, Spurlock graduated from New York University with a film degree in 1993, after being rejected by the University of Southern California's film school five times. He briefly worked as a standup comedian and faced homelessness before establishing his career in filmmaking. Spurlock is a member of the American Civil Liberties Union and the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He married Alexandra Jamieson on Tavarua Island in Fiji, and they have one son, Laken James Spurlock, born in 2006. His film interests include "Scanners," "It Happened One Night," and "The Shawshank Redemption." Spurlock's work often explores social issues through a humorous lens.
