Nicolas Roeg
Biography
Nicolas Jack Roeg CBE BSC was an English film director and cinematographer known for his innovative approach to filmmaking. He began his career in the film industry as a tea boy and gradually advanced to the role of clapper-loader at Marylebone Studios in London. Roeg gained recognition as a second-unit cinematographer on the acclaimed film Lawrence of Arabia and later served as the cinematographer for Roger Corman's The Masque of the Red Death and François Truffaut's Fahrenheit 451. He co-directed and photographed the landmark film Performance in 1970. Roeg's directorial works include notable films such as Walkabout, Don't Look Now, and The Man Who Fell to Earth, which have earned him a lasting legacy in cinema. His distinctive visual style and narrative techniques have influenced generations of filmmakers.
