Biography
Randy Newman, born on 28 November 1943 in Los Angeles, is an American singer, songwriter, arranger, pianist, composer, conductor, and orchestrator. Renowned for his Southern-accented singing style and satirical lyrics, Newman gained fame with hits such as "Short People," "I Love L.A.," and "You've Got a Friend in Me." He began his songwriting career at 17, crafting songs for various artists before releasing his debut solo album in 1968. Notable albums include Sail Away, Good Old Boys, Little Criminals, and Harps and Angels. Since the 1980s, Newman has primarily focused on film scoring, contributing music to numerous Disney-Pixar films, including the Toy Story series and Cars. Throughout his career, he has received multiple accolades, including two Academy Awards and seven Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was named a Disney Legend in 2017.
