Ray Manzarek was an American musician, singer, producer, movie director, and writer, best known as the co-founder and keyboardist of the rock band The Doors, which he formed in 1965. Manzarek played a pivotal role in shaping the band's distinctive sound, characterized by his innovative keyboard work and use of the Vox Continental organ. The Doors achieved significant commercial success during their active years, releasing several iconic albums until their disbandment in 1973. Afterward, Manzarek continued to perform and record music, notably as part of the band Riders on the Storm, which was formed in 2001 as a continuation of The Doors legacy.
