Biography
Raymond Cruz, born on July 9, 1961, is an American actor known for his notable roles in television and film. He gained prominence for portraying Detective Julio Sanchez in the series The Closer and its spinoff Major Crimes. Cruz is also recognized for his recurring role as Tuco Salamanca, a drug lord, in the acclaimed series Breaking Bad and its prequel Better Call Saul.
Born in Los Angeles to a family of Mexican descent, Cruz was raised in East Los Angeles, where he experienced the challenges of gang activity in his neighborhood. He attended East Los Angeles College and developed an interest in literature, which he credits with steering him away from gang involvement. Cruz's film career includes roles in Clear and Present Danger, Alien: Resurrection, and Collateral Damage, among others. He is married and resides in an undisclosed location.
