Richard Lester is an American film director known for his influential work in both British and American cinema. He gained prominence in the 1960s for his collaborations with The Beatles, directing films such as "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help!" In the 1980s, he directed the "Superman" film series, contributing to the superhero genre's rise in popularity. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lester exhibited prodigious talent, starting his studies at the University of Pennsylvania at age 15. He began his career in television in 1950, quickly ascending from stage hand to director. After relocating to London in 1953, he worked with the Danziger Brothers and produced successful television shows, which included adapting "The Goon Show" for television. His innovative style and ability to blend humor with cinematic storytelling have made him a significant figure in film history.
