Roger Rees
Biography
Roger Rees, a British actor, was originally trained in the visual arts before transitioning to acting in the mid-1960s. He began his career as a scenery painter after studying painting and lithography at the Slade School of Art. Rees gained recognition with the Royal Shakespeare Company, joining as a bit player in 1968 and rising to prominence with his performance in "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickelby," for which he won an Olivier Award and a Tony Award. He also received an Emmy Award nomination for the television adaptation of the play. Rees made his film debut in "Star 80" (1983) and has since appeared in various British and American television series and independent films. Primarily known for his work in theatre, he has also pursued careers as a playwright and stage director. He has resided in the United States since 1989.
