Biography

Simply Red is a British soul and pop band that formed in Manchester in 1985. The band's lead vocalist is Mick Hucknall, who became the sole original member by the time of their initial disbandment in 2010. Since the release of their debut album, Picture Book, in 1985, Simply Red has achieved significant commercial success, with ten songs reaching the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart, including the number one hits "Holding Back the Years" and "If You Don't Know Me by Now" on the US Billboard Hot 100. They have released five number one albums in the UK, with their 1991 album, Stars, being one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history. The band won the Brit Award for Best British Group in 1992 and 1993 and received three Grammy Award nominations. Simply Red re-formed in 2015 and has sold over 50 million albums worldwide.
