Biography
Stanley Kubrick was an American filmmaker born in New York City. He demonstrated intelligence early on, despite struggling with poor academic performance. In 1940, his father, Jack Kubrick, sent him to Pasadena, California, in hopes of improving his studies by staying with his uncle. Upon returning to the Bronx in 1941, Kubrick's academic challenges persisted. However, his father introduced him to chess, which sparked a deep interest and led to him becoming a skilled player. This passion for chess would later influence Kubrick's filmmaking, serving as a motif in his work and a tool for managing interactions with actors. Kubrick's unique vision and approach to cinema would ultimately establish him as one of the most influential directors in film history. He was married and stood at a height of 168 cm (5' 6").
