Stieg Larsson
Biography
Stieg Larsson was a Swedish author and journalist, best known for his Millennium Trilogy, which includes the novels "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "The Girl Who Played with Fire," and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest." Published posthumously after his death in 2004, these works explore themes of sexual violence and societal injustice. Larsson drew inspiration from personal experiences, including witnessing a rape at age 15, which influenced his portrayal of female characters, particularly Lisbeth Salander, a complex heroine modeled after both a childhood character and a real-life victim. He had planned a series of ten novels, completing three-quarters of a fourth before his passing. In addition to his literary contributions, Larsson was active in political journalism and had a brief involvement in training female guerrillas in Eritrea. Following his death, a disputed will led to his estate being inherited by his father and brother.
