Biography

Sunny is a Korean-American singer, radio DJ, and music show host, best known as a member of the South Korean girl group Girls' Generation, formed by SM Entertainment in 2007. Born on May 15, 1989, in New York, she moved to Kuwait as an infant and later relocated to South Korea during the Gulf War. Sunny serves as the Lead Vocalist and Sub-Rapper of the group. She is multilingual, speaking fluent Korean as well as basic Chinese, English, Japanese, and French. Sunny has two older sisters who share her birthday. Her musical journey began in 1998 when she became a trainee at Starlight Entertainment, later transferring to Starworld to form a duet called "Sugar," which did not debut. In 2007, she joined SM Entertainment and debuted with Girls' Generation after being recommended by singer Ayumi.
