Biography

Teyonah Parris, born on September 22, 1985, is an American actress known for her work in television and film. A graduate of the Juilliard School, she began her acting career in 2010. Parris gained recognition for her portrayal of Dawn Chambers in the AMC drama series Mad Men (2012–2015) and starred in the independent film Dear White People (2014). Her notable roles include appearances in the series Empire (2014) and the films Chi-Raq (2015) and If Beale Street Could Talk (2018). In 2021, she featured in the horror film Candyman and began portraying Monica Rambeau in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Disney+ series WandaVision. Parris is married to James, and they welcomed their first child in early 2023. In August 2024, she launched a hair extensions line called blūm by Teyonah, offering various hair products.
