Biography
Thomas Joseph McCarthy, born June 7, 1966, is an American actor, writer, and film director known for his work in both film and television. He gained recognition for his roles in films such as Meet the Parents and Good Night, and Good Luck, as well as television series including The Wire, Boston Public, and Law & Order. McCarthy has received critical acclaim for his independent films, notably The Station Agent, The Visitor, Win Win, and Spotlight. Raised in New Providence, New Jersey, he is one of five children and graduated from Boston College and the Yale School of Drama. His directorial debut, The Station Agent, won multiple awards at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, including the Audience Award and the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. McCarthy also appeared in the Broadway revival of Noises Off! and starred in Flags of Our Fathers.
