Biography

Tom Burke was born on 30 June 1981 in the United Kingdom. He was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, which presented challenges in his academic pursuits; however, his parents enrolled him in a Steiner School to support his education. Burke engaged with the performing arts early on, participating in the National Youth Theatre and the Young Arden Theatre. He gained notable recognition for his performance as Romeo in a 2004 production of Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. In 2008, he appeared in Creditors at the Donmar Warehouse, directed by his godfather, actor Alan Rickman. Burke played the role of Greg in Neil LaBute's reasons to be pretty at the Almeida Theatre in 2011, opposite Billie Piper. He is also a patron of Box Clever Theatre, an organization focused on establishing contemporary theatre groups for young people.
