Biography
Underoath (stylized as Underøath) was an American Christian metalcore band formed on November 30, 1997, in Ocala, Florida, by Dallas Taylor and Luke Morton. Originally based in Tampa, Florida, the band gained prominence with their early albums, including Act of Depression, Cries of the Past, and The Changing of Times, featuring Taylor as the lead vocalist. After Taylor's departure, Spencer Chamberlain took over vocal duties, leading to the release of the successful albums They're Only Chasing Safety and Define the Great Line, both certified gold. Underoath received two Grammy nominations in 2007 and 2010 and released a live CD/DVD box set titled Survive, Kaleidoscope in 2008. Their sixth studio album, Lost in the Sound of Separation, was released in 2008 and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200. The band's final album, Ø (Disambiguation), was released in 2010. Underoath announced their disbandment in 2012, effective in 2013.
