Biography

Verona van de Leur, born on December 27, 1985, in Gouda, Netherlands, is a former Dutch gymnast. She gained national prominence in 2000 by winning the all-around title and three apparatus finals at the Dutch Junior Championships. In 2001, she became the senior national champion and helped the Dutch team secure a surprising fifth place at the World Championships in Ghent. Van de Leur achieved significant success at the 2002 European Championships, winning five medals, including silver in the all-around behind Svetlana Khorkina. However, the 2003 World Championships in Anaheim were disappointing, as the Dutch team failed to qualify for the Athens Olympics. In 2007, she won her third national title in the all-around and multiple event golds. Van de Leur retired from gymnastics in June 2008, citing conflicts and lack of motivation. In 2011, she was convicted for extortion and later pursued a career as a webcam model.
