Biography
Alexander III of Macedon (20/21 July 356 BC – 10/11 June 323 BC), known as Alexander the Great, was a king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon and a member of the Argead dynasty. Born in Pella, he ascended to the throne at the age of twenty after the assassination of his father, Philip II. During his reign, Alexander embarked on an extensive military campaign that resulted in the creation of one of the largest empires in the ancient world, which spanned from Greece to northwestern India by the time he was thirty. Renowned for his military prowess, he remains undefeated in battle and is regarded as one of history's most successful military commanders. His legacy includes the spread of Greek culture and influence throughout the regions he conquered. Alexander's life came to an end in 323 BC in Babylon.
