Biography

Bess Flowers (November 23, 1898 – July 28, 1984) was an American actress renowned for her prolific career in Hollywood, often referred to as "The Queen of the Hollywood Extras." Over her 41-year career, she appeared in more than 700 films, primarily in uncredited non-speaking roles. Born in Sherman, Texas, Flowers made her film debut in 1923 and quickly gained popularity, featuring in a variety of genres, including thrillers directed by Alfred Hitchcock and comedies with the Three Stooges. She holds the record for the most appearances in films that won the Academy Award for Best Picture, including It Happened One Night and All About Eve. In addition to her film work, Flowers appeared in notable television series, such as I Love Lucy. She was married twice and had one daughter. Flowers passed away at the age of 85 in Woodland Hills, California, and her remains were cremated.
